End of the Year

So the year is finally winding down and I realize that I failed at trying to keep up with my blog. It was a pretty busy semester, and I'm glad to finally be able to sit down and take a break. There have been a lot of videogames I've been waiting to nerd out on that I haven't had time with.

Save the Princess!

Lets Kill some Dragons

So far I'm loving it. Zelda: Skyward Sword is an awesome experience with a strong nostalgic sense tied along with it. Never before has the game been so interactive, with the Wii motion plus controller giving great sword play. My favorite of the series was definitely Majora's Mask on the N64, that Demi-Link character was a beast at the end of the game. Skyward Sword shows again that there is more to games than crazy graphics, long live Zelda the member of the Video Game Hall of Fame!

Then there is Skyrim.......what can I say about Skyrim that hasn't already been said. This is by far easily one of the best games that has ever been made. The entire world is so massive and completely open, you can truly run around for hours (accompanied by some of the most epic video game music of all time) and never get bored. From dungeon crawling while fleeing from Draugr Deathlords, to epic outdoor battles taking on massive fire-breathing dragons and sucking their souls, the game truly is an experience. I'm sure this will be a very popular gift this year for Christmas.

I had a pretty awesome time this last week though. My band, Lenora Sol, finally got to play a show at a bar called Jakes, and it went really well. We played with: A Main Street Marvel, Cleany Ohm, and Stay Sane. We opened up the show and, even though there wasn't really a crowd, we had a great time playing and meeting the other bands.

A few days later I went down to T&A Bar and Chill with some friends to catch another Stay Sane set. These guys are a local Lubbock Reggae band with a really tight sound. I was really jealous to find out that their bass player was still just a senior in High School, since we're finding it impossible to find a bass player, but then was just impressed when I found out he was the guitar players little brother. You should check em out sometime if they ever play somewhere nearby, they jam pretty hard.

Lazy Sunday

So it's been a crazy few weeks. I've finally gotten around to starting a blog, which I should have started a long time ago. School has been pretty nuts lately, since all my classes finally starting all moving at the same time. I did a video project today down at Pittmans Academy of Martial Arts.

They had a Halloween party that I grabbed some video for, for my News Presentation Class. I have been too busy to go in for classes, but I need to start getting back into it. I just tweaked my right shoulder a little bit a few weeks ago, so I didn't want to risk it.

It was funny to when a guy collecting donations outside of Walmart tried to hustle me out of my sunglasses.I walked out and he stopped me and said, "Oh man are those BluBlockers? It sure would be a special blessing if you gave those to me today. I've got these polarized sunglasses here, but they don't do what BluBlockers do."

It was pretty funny, and I'll give him an A for effort at least. It took me 2 or 3 minutes to kindly tell him no and finally start walking to my car haha.

Last week my band, Lenora Sol, finally had our first show! It was at a pretty cool health shop/coffee shop called "Healthy Essentials" and it wound up going great.

There is a shot of one of our guitarist, "Rambunctious Ron," getting his equipment set up for the show before we started playing. The place had a nice personal feel, and we even had a pretty decent turnout of people for our first show. It was a pretty long set, consisting of 15 songs, but we powered through it and made it to the end. The only significant mistake I made was when I dropped my stick during a cover of "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight," by the Postal Service.  The people who owned Healthy Essentials were awesome as well. It was a small first time show so they couldn't pay us really, but they let us get one free thing while we were hanging out waiting to start. I chose to enjoy some tea before the show. I had never really tried tea before, and this place had a very wide selection, so I decided to give it a shot. I was more than impressed with the service when this is what was brought out to me a few minutes later.

Man...that tea with milk and brown sugar was amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing place to hang out and grab some healthy food or a smoothie or something. They also have other random health related things. They have a plastic pillow type thing for your back that I want to go back and get. Anyways, we will be playing a show there again soon I'd imagine. So you'll have to come see for yourself!
